As we are learning new ways to connect during social distancing, we have begun to implement a tool called Zoom.

Zoom is a video calling service that allows meetings to be set up for specific times. This page is to help those who are new to Zoom, or who may need a little extra help getting it set up. Here's what you need to know:

  • You do not need a Zoom account to join a Zoom meeting at VAC
  • You will need a device (computer, iPad/tablet, phone) with a mircophone - a camera is helpful too, but not necessary to take part in a Zoom Meeting
  • If you're using an iPad, Tablet, or phone, download the Zoom App before following the instructions below

INSTRUCTIONS FOR JOINING A ZOOM MEETING

  • Click the Zoom Link (for example, the Prayer Room link on our homepage, or a link you recieved via email from a leader)
    • If you're on a computer, the App will automatically begin downloading. It should pop up on the bottom left of your screen if you're using Chrome or similar web browser - you'll need to click on it there to start the download.
    • If you're using a tablet or phone and have already downloaded the app, the meeting will automatically open.
  • The meeting will automatically open
  • If your meeting requires a password you will be required to enter it now & click Join Meeting. Contact your group leader if you do not have a password. If you were not given one, you will likely not be asked for one.
  • The next window will be two "test" windows to make sure your camera and audio is working. Click "Join with Video" and "Join with Audio."
  • You may see a message about being in a Waiting Room. No action is required of you at this point - your group leader will admit you to the Zoom Room when the meeting begins.

If you have any trouble using Zoom, don't hesitate to email our office and we'll be happy to give you a hand.
