While we take a break from our weekly kidstime videos during the summer, here are a few great options I hope you will explore this Summer with your family at home:

1) Minno Church at Home.  This is a wonderful free resource that can be a fun and full experience especially for those who take the added step of downloading and printing off the Church at Home notes, and the Read and Colour Bible stories. (Note: if your family is interested in a monthly full Minno subscription, please let Pastor Kyla know, as we would like to arrange for the summer months to be covered).

2) Review or catch up on our KidsTime episodes 1 - 14 with Pastor Kyla.  These short video clips usually include an encouragement to engage in a simple at home activity.

3) Invest in a great Kids Bible (or arrange to borrow one from the church) and read a story together each week.  After you read the story together, simply ask 2 questions: What does that story reveal to us about what God is like?  Who is someone you would like to share that story with?/Why?  Then practice retelling the story together by taking turns remembering how the story unfolds.  Make this a fun time together.

4) Enjoy a prayer walk in your community.  As a family, you've likely gone on many walks.  This time, as you leave your home be intentional about reminding yourselves that God is with you on the walk.  What do you think God wants to direct your attention to?  Who or what is God bringing to mind as you walk?  Pray aloud together with simple language and keep it conversational, just as you would on any other walk.

5) Rest.

6) Rest and pray.  One of my favourite ways to restfully connect with God is to practice Lectio Divina. This is a simple pattern of reading the scriptures, and reflecting upon them in prayer.  I find it easy to do on my own or even better in a small group or family.  Even young kids can enjoy this restful approach.  Here is a simple video that helps walk you through the steps of Lectio.
